Article Arcana

I love the Geek, his programs are pretty nice looking, at least to me. I dished out the cash for GARS and thought that the money was well worth it...though now, as I look at my site I'm not sure that I'm entirely happy with the system. It still uses showthread and I'd very much prefer something along lines of A=# to show there was a difference between the articles & normal threads...at least when a bot (like Google) is looking at it. Ultimately though it should likely do it's own re-write of them and post them as /article-name rather then letter=number as that is the true method of article submission.

Either way though, I still need to get the ball rolling and get a few more articles submitted.

I'm too busy for my site

The first few weeks of the forum I was focusing on content and content alone. I cared little for in or outgoing links...as they meant nothing if there was nothing to see. once I got the majority of the content I had to share (see the Cthulhu Mythos forum for most of it) I then got to submitting the Corpus to various directories, link lists, and banner exchanges. Throughout this time I was also checking in on various forums from around the globe that dealt with web issues. vb-faq, my host's forum, and more recently Digital Point... the information I was gathering was simply TMI but I kept at it and have really learned a lot. Granted, I could have worked harder, as I only reached a PR3 on this cycle (and could have gotten a 5) but *shrug*

At any rate, I've been missing some good conversations on my own forum as I was off trying to make my site better. There is a group of members trying to make a servitor for the OC itself. It's not gone very far but check it out! "OC Servitor Creation Process-Ver.2.0"

I'll have to start dividing my time better from now on...

Social bookmarking

I was on Digital Point today & found a simply FANTASTIC resource for social bookmarking... while there are FAR too many for me to join on my own, I still thought that it was a pretty good set which I've shared with the forums in a plea to help the OC grow.

I'm already a member of del.icio.us and of Stumble, both of which I adore! I'll need to check out DIGG, FURL, and Tecnoranti(sp?). Possibly a few others, but I certainly do not want to be overwhelmed with "bookmarking" when I already have more then enough for myself.

A few months behind...

Back in September of 'o6 a group of fine individuals and myself got up enough money to start up a new occult forum, after the old one kind of went belly up. After I got enough funds I found us a great host and some fine forum software. After a week of shuffling, dealing, and shuffling again we finally broke the site into categories that we felt were more then adequate.

Over all it's a fine, fine place if I do say so myself...though I guess I'm a bit bias.

I do think it's against the ToS of Blogger to use a blog here for nothing other then plugging another site. This is NOT my intent! My intent here is to have a web log of my trials and tribulations of being a web master....it's just I felt a proper introduction was needed before I began. So while I may post a few key site announcements in the furture, this will NOT be used as a jumping board to my forums ~ though discussion of my forum will invariably be showing up here.

I hope you enjoy the trip,
